About the artist
Urban pop-soul artist, Rachel West, is quickly becoming a top breakout artist of 2016. Her music is a direct reflection of her diverse upbringing and eclectic taste. Born in Portland, Oregon, Rachel has lived on the West Coast all of her life. At age ten, she began writing her own songs and by her senior year of high school she had started recording songs in her classmate's garage. In 2011, she moved to Los Angeles to pursue her education. While attending Occidental College, Rachel began recording demos for artists such as Rhianna, Jordin Sparks, and Jessie J. Having tasted studio life, she was eager to create her own body of work. In 2014, she started working on her debut EP with producer Tadjh "BeatsByiTALY" Brooks. Her first single, "Orange" rippled across campus, creating major buzz. Following the release of "Orange", she created an online campaign to raise funds for her first music video which dropped November 14th, 2014. In December, "Aurum" was released to the public and quickly charted on iTunes top 150. Since then, she's shared the stage with artists such as Tinashe, Young Thug, Wale, and Lupe Fiasco, where audiences have been instantly captured by her dynamic vocals and energy. Rachel's musical influences include Nat King Cole, Jessie Ware, Justin Timberlake, Drake, and Adele. Rachel is currently working on her second EP which is expected to be released next year.
